How to Make it the PR Entertainment World.

It takes a certain type of person to work in the public relations business. You need to have the confidence, drive, creativity and one who is passionate and goal-orientated. This industry is a time consuming job, it is definitely not your typical 9am to 5pm job. Music and Entertainment has always been a passion of mine to be that outgoing person who will go that extra mile when it comes to working nonstop until I get it done. The drive that pushes me to do such work is the passion that continuously grows for this industry. All of the time, hard work and creativity it takes to produce such a mass event and finally reaching the end result, gives you that feeling that you are on top of the world feeling accomplished. Everyone has a dream, but it is only few who turn those dreams into realties and that is what I plan to do.

Many students in college who are interested in public relations and event planning have to go the alternate route of taking the major that is closest to our career interest. Students take journalism and video production, graphic design or any other art major. Their are certain guidelines you must ask yourself is PR in the entertainment business is right for you. Can you work in fast-paced environments? How well do you work under pressure? How creative are you on the spot? How well are you at multitasking? These are the few questions public relations officers need to ask themselves along with many others. To get yourself out there in the business, you need to be willing to take that extra step of going to conferences, volunteering at events, working for a paid or unpaid internship.

To utilize these ideas and to brand myself as a person, I will be attending the Biz Bash Idea Fest on Wednesday, October 30th at the Jacob K. Javits Center from 7:30am to 6:00pm. The idea fest is to meant to inspire and inform you about the latest developments in the event industry with guest speakers from such as Swank Productions and Eventbrite. When you make the right connections it is a key factor to make it into the entertainment business. Going to the event with an agenda of who you will talk to and what you will talk about to brand yourself to get the main contact information. Public relations officers must stay up to date with the current trends within the digital social media and globalization to kick off a conversation. In addition to, showing and expressing your enthusiasm and passion for the industry.
